Last updated : 02 May 2004 By Chris Laker

AUGUST
Reds opened the season with a surprise home defeat to Merthyr Tydfil. An early strike from Cortez Belle was cancelled out by debutant Charlie MacDonald, before Gary Thorne headed home in the second half.
However, it took Town four matches to register their first victory of the campaign, a 3-0 win at home to Havant then followed up with a 4-0 thumping of Worcester City, thanks to a Carl Wilson-Denis hat-trick.

SEPTEMBER
Reds opened the month with successive away draws against local rivals Eastbourne Borough and Tiverton Town.
A hectic period saw the side struggling to win games, and a stirring comeback was needed against Nuneaton in front of a seasons best 1,864 at the Broadfield Stadium.

OCTOBER
Goals from Wilson-Denis and Mo Harkin saw Reds through a tough looking fixture against Stafford Rangers.
Another win over Cambridge City meant Francis Vines' side hit the top of the table, while an FA Cup run began with the 4-2 defeat of Cirencester.
