Crawley set to reveal controversial Evans as new boss

A highly-controversial figure, Evans only handed in his resignation at newly-relegated Boston United last weekend, before he was linked with the vacant Crawley post.

The Scot led Boston from the Conference to the Football League in the space of two years, but far more controversy has followed him than footballing success. He departed the Lincolnshire outfit weeks after they went into administration.

Indeed, Evans' colourful past has seen him banned from football for 20 months, before being given a suspended prison sentence at the end of last year.

The 44 year-old takes over the helm from John Yems, who was dismissed despite keeping Reds' Conference status intact.

Another candidate for the job, Andy Hessenthaler has taken over at Dover Athletic.
