Boss Steve Evans told the club website: "On Wednesday evening, I received a formal written offer for Richard Brodie from a Football League club.

"As always I passed that on to my board of directors. I was delighted to be instructed to reject the offer."

He added: ''Richard Brodie is a top player, a big part of our project here and a big character in our dressing room.

''The lad is part of our short and long-term future, he is a real asset to Crawley Town and my view has been endorsed by my directors."

The forward made 147 appearances for York, scoring 58 goals, before leaving Bootham Crescent to join Evans' side for an undisclosed fee.

Brodie has scored six goals in 18 games for the Blue Square Bet Premier promotion chasers this term.
