Crawleys Evans eyes League One

Evans told BBC Sussex: "We've signed players we think could compete at the top end of League Two.

"The signings we make in the summer will be very relevant to whether we can genuinely be title contenders again. There's no reason why we can't."

He added: "We've beaten all the top teams in our league and the results in our FA Cup ties have showed we can hold our own.

"We know that a promotion campaign next season is very realistic."

Evans paid tribute to co-owner Susan Carter and former co-owner Bruce Winfield, who passed away last month.

"If it wasn't for Bruce Winfield and Susan Carter it wouldn't be possible," he continued.

"We picked the players, but Susan and Bruce never said no to any player. That's incredible support and you have to acknowledge that.

"Bruce was a lovely man, a true gentleman and a great friend.

"He knew we were getting promoted. He's up there looking down.

"He put a lot in but the club is greater than any one man or woman and we'll go on to greater, bigger things."
