Striker poised to leave

Abbey grabbed a second-half equaliser against the Premiership big guns and impressed Woking manager Geoff Chapple.

If the skilful frontman leaves it will signal the end of a disappointing second spell at the Broadfield Stadium, where he struggled to find any consistent form since rejoining the club after a brief stay in the Football League with Oxford United and Southend.

In 1999 Abbey earned his move into the professional ranks with an impressive strike rate of 46 goals from 97 matches catching the eye of Third Division Oxford, who shelled out £16,000 for the former Maidenhead player.
