The Reds dominated most of the game and had enough opportunities to win comfortably but lacked composure in front of goal when it mattered.

Their only clear chance of the first half came on 31 minutes when Steve Burton turned Shane Blackett on the edge of the box and fired just wide with his weaker left foot.

The Daggers were happy to sit back and hit Crawley on the break and it almost paid off just before half-time.

Striker Craig Mackail-Smith beat right-back Ben Judge down the left flank and forced keeper Phil Smith into a low save, which he needed a second attempt to gather.

Chris Moore was then denied by another good stop by Smith two minutes into the second half with a low drive from a tight angle.

Crawley's dominance grew as the second half wore on and they came within the width of the woodwork of taking the lead.

Ian Simpemba saw a towering header from a Richard Hodgson corner come back off the bar, before Judge had a follow-up header cleared off the line by Glen Southam.

Hodgson then brought a full-length save out of visiting keeper Tony Roberts on 74 minutes with a curling 25-yard effort and Simpemba blasted just wide from close range moments later to cap a frustrating night for the home side.
