The 21 year old, signed from Scarborough on transfer deadline day, made an instant impact by giving the Reds a half-time lead.

The former Doncaster forward slotted home coolly from close range on 34 minutes after a turn and shot by Simon Wormull had rebounded off the underside of the bar.

Accrington only had themselves to blame for being behind at the interval.

Matt O'Neill had a point-blank shot turned on to the crossbar by Crawley keeper Andy Little, before Paul Mullin hit a post from six yards after breaking clear of the home defence.

Crawley sealed the points eight minutes after half time thanks to Dan Marney's eighth goal of the season.

The former Brighton striker, who was only in the side due to Charlie MacDonald's move to Weymouth two days previously, headed home a cross by Wormull.

The visitors went close to pulling one back on 72 minutes when Little deflected a side-footed effort by Mullin over the bar.

But it was Crawley who finished the strongest and they almost added another late on when Sean Hankin hit the bar with a header.
