The game swung in the Reds' favour after just 15 minutes when the visitors had Dave Bampton sent off for hauling down Charlie MacDonald on the edge of the box.

Crawley took four minutes to make their numerical advantage count with defender Rob Watkins, playing his last game of a month's loan from Fulham, volleying past Chris Neal from eight yards after Simon Wormull had mis-hit a shot from a Neil Jenkins corner.

Crawley almost added another on 30 minutes when Jenkins was released by MacDonald and had a 20-yard drive tipped onto the crossbar by Neal.

MacDonald, who was playing for the first time in two weeks following a groin injury, then went close just before half time with a turn and shot which whistled wide of the top corner.

Crawley continued to dominate after half time and killed Tamworth off with two goals in three minutes. Wormull beat the offside trap on 72 minutes to break free down the right flank and crossed for Jenkins to head home via a deflection off defender Dave Robinson.

Allan Tait wrapped it up moments later with a superb chip from the angle of the penalty box which looped over the hapless Neal.
