Crawley Town gave Burton Albion a lesson in how to score goals as they emphatically beat the Brewers at the Broadfield Stadium.

First-half strikes by Neil Jenkins and Simon Wormull put the Reds in control at the break, before substitutes Allan Tait and Dan Marney wrapped it up in the second half.

Albion were left to lament several missed chances in the first half after dominating most of the possession.

Craig Dudley should have done better with a close-range tenth-minute effort which he fired straight at Phil Smith.

Andy Ducros then blasted wide from the edge of the box and Mark Robins went close with two headers, which were saved both times by home keeper Smith.

Crawley took the lead against the run of play in the 18th minute with their first clear opening. Wormull played a perfectly weighted throughball to Jenkins, who composed himself before blasting under Dan Crane and into the bottom corner of the net.

Wormull made it 2-0 in the 37th minute with a super strike for his first goal for the club. The former Tottenham midfielder received the ball 25 yards out and unleashed a shot which cannoned in off the inside of a post.

Tait was introduced for the second half and he took just eight minutes to get on the score-sheet. He latched on to a precise pass from Wormull and tucked a left-foot shot from a tight angle into the far corner.

Marney made the game safe in the 69th minute thanks to yet another smart piece of build-up play by star man Wormull. The midfielder crossed from the right for Marney to poke home from the edge of the six-yard box.
