Crawley Town's slim hopes of a play-off spot were all but dashed at the Glyn Hopkin Stadium, as Chris Moore's 16th goal of the season seven minutes before the end, ensured a late Dagenham & Redbridge victory.

It was no more than the home side deserved, the win giving the Daggers their first points from the Easter fixtures. It was never the less cruel on Crawley who deserved to get something out of this game.

Both sides played some neat football, but clear-cut chances were few and far between. With five minutes gone, Craig Mackail- Smith crossed from the right, but Tony Boot failed to connect when well placed.

Lee Goodwin headed over from a Glen Southam cross two minutes later. Crawley keeper Phil Smith then kept his side in the match with a save low down from Southam's powerful shot. From the resulting corner, Smith denied Jake Leberl.

Allan Tait went close for Crawley with a shot that went straight to Tony Roberts, and a headed effort, which flew over the bar.

Mackail-Smith's strong run on the half-hour produced a shot which was too close to Smith.

The best chance to open the scoring however fell to Crawley's Charlie MacDonald five minutes before the break.

Southam lost possession in his own half to Simon Wormull, who found MacDonald with a 40-yard pass. With only Roberts to beat, Macdonald shot wide of the Daggers upright.

The persistent Daggers' pressure finally paid dividends, in the second half, when a quick throw involving Mackail-Smith and Southam enabled Moore to bury his shot to give the Daggers the lead they were not to lose.
